Music for Irish wakes and funerals

How can you help?

I've been performing at Irish funerals and wakes for many years.

Here's the title track from my brand new album, 'Jealous of the Angels', I was asked to sing this beautiful song at a funeral last year and fell in love with it immediately. The song and the album are available on Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc.

It's a popular option with mourners to have that 'special Irish song' (or two) associated with the deceased, performed at the service.

I sing and accompany myself on guitar with this option and I'm happy to advise on possible songs where required.

The most popular songs tend to be Irish Ballads such as; 'Danny Boy', and 'The Fields of Athenry', along with other similar old time favourites.

Often a song from the County of the deceased is also sung.

As well as performing solo I can also provide a duo option with a flute player, uilleann piper, banjo player and or accordionist at Wakes after the service.

I often work with an excellent Uilleann Piper at Irish Funeral Services, playing laments such as 'The Coolin', (click below to hear) who also performs along with me when also booked for the Wake afterwards.

"Sean - all my family and I would like you to know and for you to pass on to the band that they were fantastic at my mother's wake yesterday - they made it the perfect send off for her for her family and friends all of whom have been steeped in the traditional music and the ballads and songs of Ireland - can't praise them enough - they made the day - thanks, and thanks again -"

"Hi Sean,

I just wanted to touch base and say thank you so much for all your efforts.

My mum would have been so happy at the way you got everyone together with your music.

All those there expressed how great a day you made it, making a sad occasion into a joyous one, which is what we wanted.

I have also passed on your details to various members of my friends and family so I guess it won't be to long until I hear you guys again.

So thank you again Sean from every one in the O'****** party.

God bless",

"Hi Sean,

May we first say how pleased we were with you're performance at my Dads funeral.

We were especially pleased with the song Mother Ireland "Come Home Paddy" that you learned for the day, it was one of my Dad's favourite songs. You helped to make a sad day very special.

All who attended commented on how good you were, we will track you down and come and see you in the future".

All the best,

Ken & Mairead.

Sean, I just wanted to say, sincere thanks to you guys for making the Wake on Friday a fantastic celebration for my Mum. You were the icing on the cake for us and we're very grateful! Also I hope Millwall have a good season.:-)

Cheers,

Kevin.
